What do we do?

The Friends of Bury Lodge Park is a very active group that has already achieved a great deal in making the park more attractive and accessible.

The group was formed in 2009 by local residents after a council initiative to start Friends groups throughout Enfield. Before the group was formed Bury Lodge, like many parks, had succumb to time, lack of investment, and suffered from anti-social behaviour.  Since then we have achieved a great deal:

2009 - Worked with the Council to redesign the toilet block.

2009/2010 - Helped to redesign and refurbish the children's play area.

2010 - Set up weekly working-party every Wednesday morning.

2010/2011 - Cleaned the pond.

2011 - Bury Lodge Park won the Mayor of London's Gold Award for Safer Parks!

2011 - Awarded £16,000 from Community Spaces Lottery to replace roses, create hedging along Salmons Brook perimeter, providing picnic benches, a tools safe, notice boards and planting the front beds of the park.

2011 - Secured £5000 from the Council Residents Priority Fund to restore Salisbury House Walled Gardens, also known as the Secret Garden.

2016 - Gold Award Winner Enfield in Bloom, Silver Gilt Winner London in Bloom.

2017 - Gold Award Winner Enfield in Bloom, Silver Gilt Winner London in Bloom, Level 4 Neighbourhood Awards

2018 - Teamed up with local businesses Tessa Stevens Health & Beauty and The Dance Studio N21 to secure long term sponsorship of some of the flowerbeds in the park.

Getting Involved

We always welcome new members, and would love for more people to join us to help to continue the improvements in the park and to Salisbury House Gardens.  Please do get involved in any way you can, here are just a few ways you can help:

  • Make a donation to support the Friends' work in restoring the park.
  • Join our efforts to raise vital funds for future projects.
  • Help with the gardening as part of our Wednesday morning volunteer group from 9.30-12.30 each week.  It's a great way of keeping fit and making new friends.  Just pop along any Wednesday.
